Back Soon

Sorry for the lack of posts. I've been feeling under the weather add to that a life that seems to get busier each day and I seem to be forgetting about my blog a bit. I will try to get back to more regular posting as soon as I am feeling a bit better.

An Extra 15

wig: savvysheitels.com // t-shirt: made by me // skirt: land's end thrifted // shoes: madden girl

For a few weeks it's been feeling like summer, so yes those are sandals. Though today it's all rainy and wintery gloomy outside (I'm a day behind in posting). Somehow I woke up at 8:45 this morning (that's not counting the multiple times both of my children woke me up and when I finished giving them whatever it was they asked for I crawled back to bed) and realized I had 15 minutes to get A dressed and be at school. So we ran that marathon and thank G-d I got to school while the carpool lane was still open. (I hadn't had time to even brush my teeth yet!) Now I get it when people say they rolled out of bed and ran out the door. I was always the type of person who gave myself an extra 15 minutes in the morning to get ready just to be extra sure I wouldn't be late.

70s Inspiration

wig: savvysheitels.com // shirt: gap // skirt: thrifted // belt: target kid's department via 99c only

I watched The Runaways on Saturday night (I'm a day behind in my posting) and that inspired me to try and wear something 70s inspired. Side note, it was a great movie. The long skirt with blouse tucked in made me think of the high waisted (that's totally spelled wrong) wide legged jeans. I also styled my wig with the banges kinda blown over the sides with a middle part a la Farrah Fawcett (it's hard to tell in the picture because the hair is dark).
Remember the project preview I mentioned a while ago, well I finally completed the cardigan but it came out totally wonky around the collar so there is no way I will be able to convince my OCD self to wear it even though I really like the idea of the look. Now I don't know what to do with it because I'm not gonna wear it but I put so much time into making it...

On the bright side

wig: savvysheitels.com // t-shirt: o.c. designs (local shop) // skirt: land's end thrifted // belt: thrifted // boots: steve madden via marshall's // earrings: gifted

I had a hard day today. Cranky kids and a cranky mom don't make for an easy day. On the bright side I got some new eye shadows that I have been wanting for a bit.
Here is a picture of some of them from the Beauty Broadcast Blog along with a review.

What I Wore Wednesday

wig: savvysheitels.com // blouse: the limited thrifted // skirt: gap via it's a wrap // cardigan/blazer: made by me // shoes: nine west

I got all dressed up for a business meeting this morning and fully intended to wear this the whole day but when i got home i just didn't feel like I could sweep the floor and do the dishes in something even mildly restricting so off it went and I put on a t-shirt. I'm linking up to The Pleated Poppy's W.I.W.W. link party.

Update

beret: parkhurst via savvysheitels.com // t-shirt: papaya // sweater vest: thrfited // skirt: gifted and altered by me // flip flops: old navy
Things have been pretty crazy around here lately, we had relatives visiting last week and when they left A got sick. By the time she got better we were getting ready for the weekend. My husband is a caterer and prep for the weekend is his busy time so Wednesday and Thursday are very busy and sometimes I don't see him Thursday or Friday until right before Shabbos starts (this past week was a busy week for him). We went to Chuck E Cheese again yesterday and on the way home E got sick in the car. Whats with Chuck E Cheese and my kids getting sick (it's not like we eat the food there anyways, we just go for the rides and games).
Lately business has been getting busier for me as well. I work for SavvySheitels.com (yes that is where my wigs are from) and have been getting a lot more inquires from customers and dealing with customers that have been more time consuming then usual. With all this going on I need to figure out how to fit blogging into a busier schedule, I have really been enjoying this and I know life will get busy sometimes it's just a matter of time management which I haven't been so great at lately

Thrifty Finds & Purim Ideas

With Purim coming up (it come out on March 20th this year) I decided to start thinking about what costumes to make for my children. I know that A will definitely want to be Queen Esther once she starts to learn the story of Purim in school and with that decided I figured I might as well have E dress up as Mordechai. To give myself some ideas of how they dressed in that time and place, last night I watched One Night With the King. I know it can't be completely correct about the type of clothing they wore but I have decided I don't want to do a stereotypical princess dress.
With this in mind I went thrifting today and this is what I found.

I know the dress and tiara aren't really along the same lines as what i was thinking of but for $1.99 each I just couldn't leave them. The dress is too big and will need some alterations and a good cleaning. There is also a spot on the front of the dress where the velvet is rubbed off. I hope that when I am finished with all my alterations the dress will look more like the style I had in mind. I want it to go with E's costume. I already have a picture in my head of how I want to do that (and I have the fabric).
I was happy to see that all the rhinestones (or crystals... I'm not sure what it is) on the tiara are still intact and for $1.99 I couldn't leave it.

I think I'm going to dress up as Vashti as she is the only other main female character in the story of Purim, but I'm not sure what my husband should dress up as. He will be working on Purim day (he is a chef) so his costume needs to be something he can wear while working. He doesn't want a very out there costume and I don't know what I could do for King Achashverosh or Hamman, any ideas?

Key Charm

wig: savvysheitels.com // sweater: banana republic hand me down // black tank: papaya // skirt: thrifted // boots: etien aigner via dsw // key charm: lily leighs // flower charm: 'borrowed' from my sister (about 5 or 6 years ago)

I have been wearing these 2 necklaces everyday for almost a week now and I feel like they go with everything. I really like the look of 2 delicate necklaces layered. Years ago my mom bought matching earrings for her me and my sister, the flower charm matches them so I assume she got it at the same time but it's been so long I don't remember. One year ago I bought the key necklace from Lily Leighs on Etsy. I really liked the whole key charm trend and was able to find one that I liked and was within my price range in her shop. I just went back to look at some of the things she has for sale and there are some gorgeous pieces and her prices are very reasonable. I am especially loving these peacock earrings.

What have you purchased on Etsy recently? Which shops would you recommend I check out?

Sorry for the lack of posts.

Sorry for the lack of posts recently. On Tuesday my sister-in-law from Argentina was in town for the day with her husband and foster son. We spent the day with them and our my brother-in-laws family. It was a long and fun filled day, first we ate out for breakfast, then the kids played at my brother-in-law's house, then went to the park and finally to Chuck E Cheese. A had so much fun there (it was her first time going) and she kept on wanting to go back on the Barney ride. On the way home though, she became sick and that's what I've been dealing with this week.
